I am a Professorial Fellow in the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Sheffield. I describe myself as an interdisciplinary urbanist, interested in processes of transformation and change, particularly around governance and policy processes; the roles of universities in their urban environments; and the research-practice relationship. I worked closely with Creative Concern to set up Platform, with support from Mistra Urban Futures, to foster the exchange of knowledge between different communities and stakeholders around sustainability in Greater Manchester.

I am currently all excited about our new projects Jam and Justice  funded by the ESRC Urban Transformations project and 'Whose knowledge matters?'. I'm also privileged to remain leading the UK's involvement with the Mistra Urban Futures centre - an international centre bringing academics and practitioners in cities in the global South and North to integrate existing and share new knowledge on developing more sustainable urban pathways.
